Why is IV-CHARIS hosting the 2008 Humanitarian Summit?
According to the Global Issues Website:
Infectious diseases continue to blight the lives of the poor across the world. An estimated 40 million people are living with HIV/AIDS, with 3 million deaths in 2004. Every year there are 350–500 million cases of malaria, with 1 million fatalities: Africa accounts for 90 percent of malarial deaths and African children account for over 80 percent of malaria victims worldwide.
Half the World – nearly 3 billion people – live on less than $2 a day.
Nearly a billion people entered the 21st Century unable to read a book or sign their names.
Additional Facts include:
Today, there are approximately 1.2 million people living with HIV/AIDS in the U.S., including more than 500,000 who are Black.

This Solution-Based Summit is built around addressing a multitude of Humanitarian Crises that are often viewed and perceived as “some one else’s problem, not mine.” We will take the time to focus on the commonalities that we share globally, nationally, regionally, and locally.
Our focus is geared toward exploring the spiritual, mental, physical, and psychological effect of stigmatization, poverty, emotional abandonment, illiteracy, hunger, HIV/AIDS infections, and Drug and Alcohol Use and Abuse from a multi-cultural, multi-racial perspective.
We, at IV-CHARIS, believe in the Egyptian Proverb that states, “When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion.” When we come together in a “Summit-Like” forum that is solution-based, we can begin to tie up these lions. Come join us as international and national organizations and speakers share vital information that will help us to put a permanent ending to a multitude of Humanitarian crises.
With the few statistics listed above along with the devastation they bring, tell us one thing…what would be your reason for not attending this Summit?
WE WILL BE AWARDING 8.5 RCH's AND 9.2 CPE's AT THE
IV-CHARIS HUMANITARIAN SUMMIT.
(CPE's benefit social workers, counselors, and nurses. For questions, call 1-877-264-7948)
